Boothbay Harbor Maine

Hello all!  I'm slowly getting back into things, like blogging.  I've been putting a majority of my focus on Noah and AnDy and just enjoying QT with my family.  Trying to relax a bit and enjoy the rest of the summer and planning baby D's 1st birthday.  My baby is slowly moving on and will eventually not be a baby anymore :(.  That's ok though because I have been enjoying every stage so far and I'm sure I'll enjoy more to come. 
Anyhow...as part of the relaxing and enjoying family time, D family took an extended weekend trip to Boothbay Harbor Maine.  I was so excited because I've always wanted to see Maine, lighthouses and other historical places.

The Harbor.  What is it about a harbor with boats and the ocean that automatically relaxes me?  So peaceful!

He loved the boats.  Getting him to look towards the camera was an extremely difficult task because he couldn't take his eyes off of them.

We stopped and toured Fort William Henry on Pemaquid Beach, Maine. 

This is pretty much what's left of the fort.  Most of it was burned down and I can't remember when or details.  The picture below shows a view from the top of the tower.  You can see part of the outline of where the fort was along with remnants of the captains quarters.

We also stopped at Pemaquid lighthouse.  This is the same lighthouse shown on the back of Maine's state quarter.  I was super uper excited to finally see a lighthouse and go to the top.

Views from the top.  It was so cramped up there and we could only have 5 people max at the top.  I don't know why I always envisioned more space at the top of lighthouses.  Either way it was super cool!

And of course what is a trip to one of the oldest states in our country without at least a tour of spooky haunted places around Boothbay?  The lady in the red cape gave a tour of supposed haunted spots.  Besides the explanation which was given saying orbs were anything supernatural or paranormal instead of dust or bugs and cool lighting effects, it was an good family tour.  It definitely gave me extreme craving for a ghost hunt.  It's been too long and it looks like it might not be in the plans until October (mine and AnDy's anniversary) when we stay at the Lizzy Borden House.  We would be the type to plan on an anniversary ghost hunting trip! 

All in all it was a very relaxing and much needed trip.  Seeing all of the old buildings and antiques gave me a renewed boost to do some crafty things.  I'm thinking I may redo my end tables (FINALLY) since I've been wanting to do them since I bought them off of craigslist.

D Family Summer Vacation

Hello all!  D Family is still here but we've been taking our version of a short summer vacation.  We have an exciting weekend planned this coming weekend and I know I will have to share! I hope everyone is having a great summer.  It's flying by isn't it?  And from the majority of the pictures I have taken of Noah recently you would think all he's doing this summer is eating.  

He seems to enjoy yelling and making socially acceptable farting noises at his food.  This is him caught in the act.

First I want to thank everyone for the kind words yesterday. Andy loved my hair which surprised me because he usually doesn't like bangs.  But last night as we were watching our current favorite addiction  show "LOST", he couldn't stop playing with them lol.

I Finally Did It!

Sorry for the awkward myspace/facebook self portrait pose.  It's the only way to get a self picture without asking co workers to take one for me.  I finally decided to get the first time mommy hair cut.  This is the shortest I have ever had my hair in my entire life.  It feels so much better!  Noah will still be able to grab it.  However, he shouldn't be able to have it wrapped around his fingers, hands, toes, and feet anymore.  You wouldn't believe where I have found strands of my hair.  It literally is a huge weight off my shoulders.

Hopefully Andy will like it!

Noah's 1st 4th

Hello all! First I want to say that I hope everyone had a great 4th.  Starting Thursday and through Friday, Noah looked like he belonged on the exorcist.  His poor belly :(.  Andy got the bug on Monday and it hit me yesterday.  However, even though D family has been fighting through a case of the yucky tummies, we had a pretty great 4th. 

We went to a parade early in the day.  Surprisingly Noah didn't mind the loud band drums, fire trucks, or the huge cannon that was shot in front of us.  I must admit, it startled me pretty good but as soon as it was shot, Noah quickly turned his head towards it and gave a big grin.  I think this is a hint that he's going to enjoy those really loud toys.  Especially since his new favorite thing to do is to hit everything in order to make a sound; the louder the better!

He also spent some time with his cousin.  I swear they will be like brother and sister, especially since they are only 3 1/2 months apart.

Later on we went to Andy's aunt's camp on the lake and relaxed while a HUGE storm came through.  I LOVE watching storms.

I think the best part of the last 5 days was the amount of time I got to spend with my family.  It may have been a week full of yucky tummies and messes, but any amount of time with my family is appreciated!

BoRiNg....

I must admit that D Family has been very anticlimatic lately.  Mostly we have been working on Noah crawling, standing, enjoying his new found favorite word "dadadada dadada" which is yelled at operatic levels, while AnDy and I enjoy any time we can find in the midst of our busy opposite schedules.  Besides these tasks, the most exciting thing hs been to witness Noah learning to self feed.  It started out that by the time snack time was over, those little baby puffs would end up stuck all over his face, hands, arms, legs, and the rest of his tiny body.  He finally learned to grab handfuls of puffs in each palm and them proceeds to pinch another individual puff between his fingers before shoveling it into his mouth.  At the end of his treat, the puffs held tight in his tiny palms end up being nothing but mush.  So at the current rate about 20% of the puffs actually end up in his mouth with the remaining 80% being split between being smashed in his hands, on the floor, and stuck to various body parts.  I can't help but love this process of self feeding he's learning, it's quite cute and entertaining! : )

On a side note, I can't believe it's already the end of June!  Noah seems to be loving summer and all things a part of it (including watermelon, swimming, and being naked when it gets really hot).

Great Weekend!

D Family had a GREAT weekend!

First on Friday our little man turned 9 months!  I can't believe this little guy is already three quarters of a year old!  I'm already starting to get ideas for his 1st birthday and I'm excited because I believe it's going to be a fun theme!

Saturday, we went to some very close friends of ours wedding.  It was such a nice wedding and I loved how the bride came in by horse and carriage : )

And he was a pretty happy and handsome groom!

Noah got all dressed up for the occasion complete with plaid shorts and a bow tie and suspender print shirt :)

And Noah and I enjoyed our first time dancing in the mother/son dance with all of the other mom's and their boys! 

Finally on Sunday we celebrated Father's Day.  Andy is such a great daddy and I don't know if there's a daddy who's more in love with their little buddy as much as him!

Noah and mommy made daddy a nice breakfast which Andy picked out, blueberry pancakes (with fresh blueberries!) and corn beef hash.  Afterwords, Noah loved playing with daddy and telling him lots of stories : )  We eventually made it to a beach for a while and finally to Andy's parents for a cookout.  I know Father's Day was all about Andy and daddies everywhere.  But I sure felt more than blessed to spend a great weekend with my two favorite boys : )
