Autumn Off The Green

D Family had a great weekend and I hope everyone else did too!

Every year on the first Sunday in October, our town hosts a fall Octoberfest type of event called Autumn on the Green.  Well currently, there's a lot of road work and landscaping work going on where the green is.  So it was hosted on the town's school grounds to which the nickname Autumn off the Green was made up.  Either next year or the year after it should be back where it belongs.

It was a chilly day yesterday, but there were still a good amount of vendors and visitors.  This is just a view of one strip of tents.  At the end of this strip to the right were more and a ton more down the hill at the end.

Noah seemed to have a good time and was all bundled up with his monster hat.  He was such a good boy!  Hubby and I love to get some delicious food at these types of things.  We also got some Vermont made fresh apple cider...YUM!

Since Noah is an animal lover, he loved these Alpacas.  He was talking to them in his baby voice which usually has the most understandable words being dad and dat (that).

While I always enjoy all of the homemade crafts.  I just LOVED these chairs which I called rag chairs.  The lady made them out of any leftover material she had.  I thought these were amazing and she had them in all styles and colors.  I even tested it out and sat in it and it was very study.  These were definitely my favorite item I saw there.

Now it's back to work for me.  I hope everyone has a great rest of the day and week!

Half Finished Projects

Wow it's been a week since I've posted!  Time sure flies when you're...doing nothing lol.  Well ok I haven't been doing nothing.  I've been working on little things, spending time with my family, and working.  But when I look around, I see nothing but half finished projects.  I feel like I've been busy but with the tons of things that are left unfinished around me it sure feels like nothing.  I'm seriously ADD when it comes to working on things.  I start working on something and then it makes me think, "Oh I would love to do that" so then I leave the current project to finish later.  And then that pattern just seems to repeat itself.  Well here's some things that are half finished that I'm determined to finish soon.  Oh and this doesn't even get into our room which still needs stuff done, the bay window, the spare room, or the dining room.  I won't even mention yard work lol.

I started making these pillows for the dining room.  I honestly don't know where they are going and what I'm going to do with them yet.  I just had some extra fabric that worked great for americana and thought, gee this would be great for the dining room!  It's kinda hard to tell but I did very light tea staining on them.

Then there's the blanket I've been making for my niece.  I have to admit, I'm pretty proud of myself for how far along I have come.  All of my previous crochet projects are still about a fifth of the way done and probably will stay that way.  I've at least got through the multicolor part and started back on the purple, yay me :)

And then there's this....gardening.  I can say I definitely do NOT have a green thumb.  I tend to kill most plants and for some odd reason decided to try and grow some veggies.  Some of my seeds are starting to sprout and some probably never will.  I put them in the bay window in our room because the best light comes in through there.  That's ok, whatever hasn't come through I will just go buy some seedlings from the store.  At least my tomatoes and squash are looking promising!

These seedlings are going to end up in my earth boxes.  I've heard these things are great and I should have good luck with them.  I hope so. I hope my black thumb doesn't ruin yet another gardening project.  Thinking positive, thinking positive!

So that's kinda what I've been up to as far as projects go right now.  Nothing spectacular and as you can see, nothing finished hehe.  That's ok, I'm enjoying some nicer weather and spending as much free time with my 2 favorite men.  I mean, what other cutie can wear their pants on their head and look so darn adorable? :)

Ohio Travels and Noah's 1st Easter

Hello There!
We just got back from our trip to Ohio on Tuesday and this is the first time I've had free time to post.  Lot's of catching up at work and unpacking at home.

The trip was such a great trip!  Noah did amazing on his first extremely long road trip.  We left super early so he would sleep most of the beginning of the drive.  Everytime I visit home, it feels less and less like home.  I guess it would since it's been 3 years since I lived there.  However, it's always nice to see family and friends.  Noah got to meet lots of new people too.  All in all we had a great Easter vacation.

Talking to the trees as we were driving on the highway and telling them some obviously funny stories.

He enjoyed being able to get out of his car seat and stretch his legs a bit at the rest stops.

Noah with Papaw Chuckie

And Mamaw Debbie

Oh yes and his little protector, Isabella

He met new people who's hair he could pull instead of mommy's

And of course one of my best friends and his adopted Aunt Shelly

Noah excited to see what the Easter bunny brought!

It's easy to say he was spoiled.  And so was I. I got that nice basket for the living room to put his toys in.

His favorite Easter gifts and his first chit chat with the bunny himself.

We got to see all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, my grandparents, plus many more throughout the trip.  But one of the highlights was getting to spend some quality time with my sister and her beautiful family.

This is a sneak peak at a photo shoot we had at the flower garden in the park.  We had such a GREAT time!  We also got to spend a night with my sister and as I expected, we stayed up until the early hours of the morning catching up.
I also can't believe how big my youngest niece has got.  This was us in the morning as we were both getting ready and doing our makeup : )
Since I've been itching to do some crafts and since I've learned how to crochet but have yet to finish anything.  I made it my mission to make something.  Since her big sister and mom both have crochet blankets, I'm making her one in her favorite color, PURPLE.

This is the start of what I got done in the car on the way home.  I'm hoping to have it done by the time we go back in June for my friend's wedding.

When I got home and checked the mail, the nice bowl I ordered from Amy at Bumble Bee Lane was in.
It's perfect for my homemade potpourri!  Thanks for shipping it so fast, I love it!

Now it's time to get back to work and start catching up on lots of reading!

In Need of Some Bay Window Advice!

First of all, Happy Saint Patty's Day to everyone from this Irish gal to you!

I'm currently in need of some advice and ideas.  I've always said I wanted a bay window and was so excited about having one in the bedroom and in the living room.  Now my problem is that I have absolutely no plan on how to decorate it/them.

This is the living room one and as you can see below, very boring!
Sorry for the poor lighting in these photos.  No matter what I did (flash, no flash, and automatic) they all came out pretty poor.

I've tried coming up with ideas by making a cover/case for the cushion that's there as well as just getting rid of the cushion all together.  I've also thought about getting big pillows but I'm just so unsure and indecisive.  I seem to currently be creatively dry :(

I haven't even begun to think about what to do in the bedroom yet, I first want the living room done.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! :)

Sunday Accomplishments

Yesterday was quite a productive day at the DeMasi house.  Excluding the fact that Andy was successful in helping to get his dad's car from being stuck at the end of his driveway, we both managed some minor tasks.

Since we weren't able to get use of his dad's truck, we have yet to get our new bed.  I did however get a couple things done for our room.  I got our new bedding ordered.  I guess we're going with a sage, cream, and brown color.  It's got me thinking a chocolate brown or a sage would be nice for Andy's old dresser.  I also got a braided rug to lay in front of the bed. I was trying to decide on what to do on the wall above our bed, and finally decided on putting some pictures up.  I got a black and white picture of Andy and I from the day we met (which I still can't believe we didn't have a printed copy of before now) and a black and white picture of Noah.  I put these in matching frames and hung them up.  Small tasks but it's a start.

Again with my poor photography skills and this crooked picture taking result.  The pictures ARE level in person, I promise.

One of the biggest issues I have had since we purchased our used couch and loveseat was the awful pillows that came with them.  The, what you would call, decorative side was some weird looking black circle design.  I would flip them over to their tan side since the black circles depressed me.  The problem with the tan side was that it was very boring, bland, and to me made the room and furniture lifeless.  Well I FINALLY did something about it.  I found some cheap throw pillows at a local store.  I also found 3 chair cushion covers from the dollar store (I love random finds at those places) which I used with the padding from our previous pillows to make new pillows.  So now the loveseat and couch have new life brought back into them.  That simple change from the old dull pillows to the new brighter pillows really made the room feel much brighter.  Definitely not the most glamorous change, but with the primitive look glamour is not priority.

Our boring couch and loveseat before:

After:

I bought this metal thing with hooks because it matched some things in my kitchen.  I thought it would be perfect to hang coffee mugs on.  The problem, however, was that one of the hooks wasn't wide enough to hang a mug on it.  Instead of wrestling with the idea of trying to increase the size, I made a new plan of attack.  With 3 black and white wallet sized family pictures, some index cards, decorative paper, and the tie backs from my curtains cut into skinny strands I made this.  Again, not the fanciest of all things, but a nice place to display some more photos.  It took me a little bit longer than I originally thought to make.  Mostly because the concept of me and measuring things out before doing them just doesn't exist when I'm eager to have something done.  All in all though I feel like it turned out pretty nice.

The most important tasks yesterday was completed my my sweet hubby.  He put together this AWESOME piano toy seat thing for Noah.  Once Noah's bigger and can stand/walk, we can remove the seat and he can just play.  Noah LOVED it!  I'm sure that in the middle of stomping the piano keys with only his big toe and singing a song in his cute baby voice, he was thinking, "What a thoughtful daddy I have!"

And finally after our day of success and Noah's musical production, Andy, Noah and I went to Andy's parents to watch the Academy Awards.  Noah and I almost made it all the way through without sleeping, but failed in the last half hour or so.  Once we were home and Noah was sound asleep, Andy and I enjoyed some much appreciated snuggling on the couch watching some King of Queens on Nick at Nite.
I'd definitely say that was the perfect ending to a very great and productive Sunday!
