Autumn Off The Green

D Family had a great weekend and I hope everyone else did too!

Every year on the first Sunday in October, our town hosts a fall Octoberfest type of event called Autumn on the Green.  Well currently, there's a lot of road work and landscaping work going on where the green is.  So it was hosted on the town's school grounds to which the nickname Autumn off the Green was made up.  Either next year or the year after it should be back where it belongs.

It was a chilly day yesterday, but there were still a good amount of vendors and visitors.  This is just a view of one strip of tents.  At the end of this strip to the right were more and a ton more down the hill at the end.

Noah seemed to have a good time and was all bundled up with his monster hat.  He was such a good boy!  Hubby and I love to get some delicious food at these types of things.  We also got some Vermont made fresh apple cider...YUM!

Since Noah is an animal lover, he loved these Alpacas.  He was talking to them in his baby voice which usually has the most understandable words being dad and dat (that).

While I always enjoy all of the homemade crafts.  I just LOVED these chairs which I called rag chairs.  The lady made them out of any leftover material she had.  I thought these were amazing and she had them in all styles and colors.  I even tested it out and sat in it and it was very study.  These were definitely my favorite item I saw there.

Now it's back to work for me.  I hope everyone has a great rest of the day and week!

Chair Tastic Find and Negotiating!

It's definitely been a busy busy week for me and it isn't slowing yet.  Tomorrow will also be jam packed and then it's the weekend. Yay!  That's why today I decided to take a nice breather at lunch and catch some good old vitamin D while strolling to the local thrift store.  The last time I was there I spotted this chair and had that huge inclination that I just HAD to have it.  It was originally marked for 20 bucks and since that day I didn't have any cash on hand and the store didn't take a debit card, I decided that it just wasn't something I needed after all.  Well today as I approached the store what did I see outside just waiting for me?  Yes that wonderful chair!

When I walked up I saw that it still had the 20 dollar price tag.  Not that 20 dollars would break the bank or anything.  I just knew I could get it cheaper by just negotiating with the guy.  I, however, am not a good negotiator.  If someone is asking 30 bucks for something and I offer 15, I'd usually probably end up paying 40 after all the negotiating.  That's how bad I am.  Since I knew I could get this cheaper, I decided that now was the time to practice.  When the owner of the store asked if he could help me, I reponded by asking if he would take 10 dollars for that old blue chipped painted chair outside.  Trying to make it sound like it was really just a crappy old chair but secretly dying to take it home.  He didn't remember off hand which chair it was so he went outside to look and quickly said, "Sure!".  So I guess it wasn't really that good of practice since he probably would have taken even less for it.  I mean he didn't even remember having it.  I was just proud of myself for getting the courage to try negotiating.  Either way I was successful at getting this for half the asking price and I'm pretty happy.  I can't wait to put it in my dining room!

My Favorite Store

This weekend was such a great weekend.  Not only did I get to spend some time with the two main men in my life. We had such nice weather and I got to go to my FAVORITE store of all time.  I'm pretty sure that if I won the lottery a good chunk of cash would pass from my hands to theirs!

Noah had a blast too.  He kicked along in his stroller while smiling at everyone passing by and playing with his toys.  While daddy was off picking up stuff from his 2 favorite stores, fye and gamestop, Noah helped mommy pick out some goodies.

I can seriously buy everything from here.  If I was significantly wealthy of course!  The little bit of time Andy was in the store with me I just kept saying, "We should get this hutch!" or "Wouldn't it be nice to have this dining room table?".  To that Andy responded "We just bought one.".  Plus I guess our small suzuki wasn't going to fit any furniture in it along with us and Noah.  Oh well it just make it more necessary for another shopping trip! ; )

I'm still super happy with the things I did end up bringing home!

Random Things

I finally found a fruit I don't like, those yellow grape tomatoes. They pretty much made me gag.  I find this weird because I love tomatoes and all types of fruit.  But these things I will forever say no to!

I found a lady selling a queen sized headboard with matching dresser on craigslist.  After emailing her and getting pictures and the price she wanted for them, I decided it was not what I was looking for.  After no further response from me for less than a week, she lowered the price by 55 dollars. Maybe if I wait another week, she'll email me with yet another lower price.

I hate odd numbers.  I'm pretty adamant about having things in even numbers too.  That means we have to have at least one more kid.

We finally bought a new washer and dryer and they're finally installed.  No more washing clothes at the inlaws and better yet, no stinky laundromats where you spend 20 bucks on 2 loads!

I'm sick.  Which makes me want to curl up in bed and watch the food network and HGTV all day long

To cheer me up because of being sick, Andy sent me a cheerful picture of Noah.  Noah seems to have found his vocal chords and likes to yell at us every waking minute.  It's the most ADORABLE thing in the world!  He also enjoys how mommy blows raspberries on his belly because it sounds like a duck.

I bought a bunch of stuff at a local thrift store at lunch for only 12 bucks.  I got lots of goodies to decorate with, even a miny project which I will post about once it's done.  For some reason they only had gift bags to put my purchases in.

Finally, it's pretty sunny and significantly warmer today than it's been.  Some of the snow has even melted.  But for some reason, this makes me want to go out and build a snowman.
